Inspiring Indigenous role models will be on hand to motivate the young people who attend the Vibe 3on3® when it comes to Port Lincoln on Thursday, February 16, 2012.

Port Lincoln's National Indigenous 3on3 Basketball and Hip Hop Challenge will feature a 3on3 basketball tournament, rapping and break dancing lessons, art workshops, a dance competition and a health expo, all accompanied by a backing track of the latest RnB, hip hop and Indigenous music.

The event encourages sportsmanship, teaches new skills and builds self-esteem as well as promoting reconciliation at a grassroots level and will also feature a host of Indigenous role models to inspire students, including actors, dancers, comedians and sports stars.

MC and actor Luke Carroll will host The Vibe 3on3® . The action-packed, fun Thursday event also features DJ Jimblah and Rapper Lady Lash.

Dance role models and 2011 Deadly Award finalists Medika Thorpe and Darren Compton will be taking students through break dancing workshops. Artist and comedian Kevin Kropinyeri will also be on hand to entertain and inspire the young people of Port Lincoln.

The Vibe 3on3® will be held at the Port Lincoln Leisure Centre, Jubilee Drive, Port Lincoln. To participate in the Vibe 3on3®, young people need to pre-register in teams of three to five through their schools by Friday, February 10.

The event will also feature an opening ceremony, face painting and a free healthy breakfast and BBQ lunch.

The Vibe 3on3® aims to promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen communities and boost self-esteem. It’s also an excellent opportunity for health services and related organisations to introduce themselves to the wider community. For more information go to www.vibe.com.au
